Tuchel: We were patient to beat Dijon

The manager of Paris Saint Germane, Thomas Tuchel, has said that the Ligue One champion had to be careful in making the same mistake they made against Dijon in the quarter-finals of the Coupe de France.

PSG demolished their opponent, who is the only team that has beaten them in the present campaign 6-1 in their backyard with a brace coming from Spaniard Pablo Sarabia while fit-again captain Thiago Silva also contributed to the scoreline. Mounir Chouiar leveler looked to be a consolation for Dijon. After Wesley Lautoa had scored an own-goal, the leaders ran away with the match.

They have joined Lyon, which eliminated Olympique Marseille 1-0 to and Rennes in the Coupe de France semis.

Speaking on the outcome, the German said Dijon started on a very aggressive note, taking a lot of risks and put in a lot of effort while his lads remained focused. He added that they battled for second balls and were very careful, and stepped up the tempo when the need arises.

Speaking ahead of the next set of games, the manager said star player, Neymar, won’t be available due to a rib injury. This means the Brazilian captain won’t be fit to take play against Amiens this weekend and probably Dortmund in their crunch UEFA Champions League last 16 tie in Germany slated for Tuesday.

Captain Houssem Aouar’s superb late strike against Olympique de Marseille was enough to secure the semi-final berth for Les Gones.

Speaking after the game, Aouar described the encounter as a very complicated tight game but said the team is satisfied with the result knowing fully well that what matters is the scoreline, especially against Marseille that has been on a good run of form in 2020.

While stating that a win against Marseille always has a unique flavour,” Aouar, who rose through the rank to become the skipper said the team is aiming to go as far in every competition after falling behind in the league.
