Olympique de Marseille striker Cengiz Ünder has said he would love to stay in the club for the coming years.
Ünder is on loan at the Ligue 1 club on an initial loan from Serie A club, Roma.
The club, currently managed by Jose Mourinho, they are currently in the last four of the Europa League. The game time of the Turkish forward could be limited if he has any thoughts of a return to the Serie A side. He might be behind Tammy Abraham in the pecking order.
Meanwhile, the 25-year-old Turk made his loan deal permanent at the start of the 2022/23 season, and he does not wish to move elsewhere following his transfer.
Speaking with La Provence (via Calciomercato) in an exclusive interview, the 25-year-old, who is happy at the club, wants to finish the season well, qualify for the Champions League and stay.
Ünder had moved to Roma in a €14M deal from Istanbul Basaksehir in the summer of 2017. He scored 17 goals in 88 games in three seasons at the Stadio Olimpico, before securing a loan move to Leicester City in 2020. Last summer, he eventually secured a permanent transfer to France for €8.40M.
With just a point above RC Lens, Marseille are en route to a potential top-two finish.
If they finish second on the log this season, they will secure automatic qualification to the UEFA Champions League based on France’s UEFA coefficient ranking.
The first two teams qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League, so the third will play the qualifiers.
It’s now left for Marseille to make the job easier for themselves by winning as many games as possible from the remaining eight league games.
Any slip-up may be regrettable as Monaco are also lurking behind, although five points behind.
