Manchester United boss Erik Ten Hag slammed the club after they played a 1-1 draw against 12th-placed Crystal Palace at the Selhurst Park Stadium on Wednesday. The Red Devils had won their previous match against defending champions Manchester City by 2-1 and had entered this contest as red-hot favorites against the Eagles.
Bruno Fernandes gave a 1-0 lead to his team as he scored at the stroke of half-time whistle. However, Michael Olise scored in the stoppage time to help the home team share the spoils.
The Dutchman admitted it was disappointing to concede at the fag end of the game.
“It was disappointing and we conceded a goal at the key moment,” said Ten Hag said as quoted by the Guardian. “We had to go for the second goal. At 2-0 it would be over. We thought we were in control of the game but in football one moment can change everything and that’s something we have to learn from.”
Meanwhile, Casemiro will miss the team’s next match against table-toppers Arsenal but the gaffer remains confident that his team can deliver against the Gunners.
“He’s a really important player for us and he is one of the reasons we are in the position we are in now,” said Ten Hag. “But we have a squad and we have to fill that gap by making a proper plan. We have already shown how to beat Arsenal.”
On the other hand, Patrick Vieira was delighted with the team’s effort as they broke their losing streak of last four matches.
“It was important not to lose again,” the Palace manager said. “We stayed in the game for as long as possible and we were rewarded. Michael is improving all the time and showing his fantastic ability.”
Manchester United will next take on Arsenal on Sunday at Emirates Stadium.
