Zidane blown away by Jacquet’s performance against Belgium

France manager Zinedine Zidane has lauded Liverpool center-back Jérémy Jacquet for his performance against Belgium in the UEFA Nations League clash.

Zidane, who just took over the team, said the 21-year-old Liverpool defender has been very good and valiant.

He also praised him for being fearless in coming out far off his line and for being very good in one-on-one situations.

“In short, he was once again very good. I’ve said it four times (laughs),” the former Real Madrid boss added.

Although still only a rookie, Jacquet already has all the makings of a star. Having already started against Belgium, which they won 1-0 in Brussels, the France manager gave him another opportunity on Friday for their home match against Italy, which ended  1-1.

Having been a constant in the matchday squad during the Nations League group stage, Zidane will find it hard to bench,, as William Saliba is currently sidelined with a back injury.

He seems to have convinced Zidane with his performance against Les Diables Rouges and Azzurri.

That is why the Liverpool FC player continued to impress his manager, who praised him after the match in Paris.

This is the first time the 21-year-old is being called up to the France squad, and he has seized the opportunity.

Beyond this being his first senior appearance during this September international break, the former Stade Rennais FC player’s display in the Premier League was nothing short of remarkable.

France currently tops Group A of the UEFA Nations League with 7 points, having defeated Turkey and Belgium, and they shared the spoils in their last game against Italy, where Alessandro Bastoni canceled out Michael Olise’s brilliant free-kick.

France will complete the international break with the return leg against Belgium on Monday, hoping to retain the top spot.
