Dustin Johnson wins third LIV title In Vegas

Former world number one, Dustin Johnson emerged triumphant at the LIV Golf Las Vegas tournament in a game marked by bad weather conditions. The 39-year-old golfing veteran’s stellar performance saw him clinch his third LIV title as he made three birdies at the final six holes.

Undeterred by the cold and windy conditions that threatened to make the day a rainy disaster, Johnson remained resolute as he made his way to the final hole, ultimately finishing on an impressive 12-under-par. His remarkable comportment under pressure earned him a handsome prize of $4 million.

Reflecting on his hard-fought victory, Johnson acknowledged the formidable competition he faced throughout the tournament, recognizing the need to elevate his game to emerge victorious. With a field boasting top-tier talent, including two-time major winner Matthew Wolff and perennial contender Jon Rahm, Johnson knew he had to deliver a flawless performance to secure the title.

Despite the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions and stiff competition, Johnson remained unfazed, maintaining his focus and executing crucial birdies down the stretch to seal the win.

In addition to Johnson’s individual triumph, Smash GC, led by captain Brooks Koepka and featuring standout performers Talor Gooch, Graeme McDowell, and Jason Kokrak, claimed the team title with an impressive collective performance. Their cohesive effort and stellar play propelled them to a commanding victory.

Performances like Johnson’s on Sunday are why those connected with the LIV continue to make the case that LIV events should be sanctioned by the Official World Golf Ranking and that their players should feature on the OWGR list.

With all his impressive performance so far, Johnson, who spent over 130 weeks as world number one, is currently without a ranking. And so are other players in the league. Hopefully, in the coming weeks, more attention will be paid to the LIV.
