Scheffler wins PGA Tour title ahead of Ryder Cup

Scottie Scheffler secured a well-earned victory at the 2025 Procore Championship, furthering his status as the current leading man in golf.

Scheffler finished the tournament with a four-round total of 19-under-par 269, shooting rounds of 70, 68, 64, and a closing 67 to finish just one stroke ahead of runner-up Ben Griffin.

This triumph marked Scheffler’s sixth win of the 2025 PGA Tour season and his 19th career PGA Tour victory, tying him with Texas golf legends Ben Crenshaw and Tom Kite for most career wins by a Texan.

The final day saw Scheffler rally from a two-shot deficit to Griffin, who controlled much of the early round, extending his lead to four strokes after three holes.

However, Scheffler’s relentless birdies on three of the first seven holes narrowed the gap, and a crucial birdie on the 10th hole brought him level with Griffin at 18-under.

Scheffler surged ahead when Griffin faltered with a three-putt from 60 feet on the par-5 18th, settling for par and allowing Scheffler to secure the title.

This victory also added Scheffler to an elite list of players with at least six victories in back-to-back PGA Tour seasons, joining the ranks of Tiger Woods, Arnold Palmer, and Jack Nicklaus, who have been regarded globally as icons of the game since 1960.

Scheffler’s preparation for the Ryder Cup, another highlight event this month, seemed flawless as he used the Procore Championship as a crucial tune-up.

Speaking after his win, Scheffler mentioned the importance of staying sharp and building confidence leading into major tournaments: The thing I always focus on most going into tournaments is my preparation. When I step up on the first tee, I can tell myself I did everything I could to play well.” he said.

Equipped with a finely tuned bag that includes his favoured Spider putter, which he adopted last year and which has contributed to multiple wins this season, Scheffler remains consistent in his setup, an attribute that complements his precision on the greens.

In a little over a week, he will be helping team America win the Ryder Cup on home soil.
