December Ashes Expected To Go On As Planned

England and Australia have agreed to go on with the Ashes this December and next year January as planned. Both parties had a sit-down on Wednesday, just like they have in recent weeks, on the way forward for the Ashes this year. These talks have been necessary over fears of the quarantine conditions in Australia as most English players are worried about how they and their families would cope when they fly over at the end of the year.

One highlight of the pandemic is that it has subjects sports players to certain conditions during quarantine. Cricket, in particular, has adopted measures to keep players and staff safe. But these measures have not been very appealing to players. They travel to another country where they are then confined in rooms for 14 days before they are allowed to start training ahead of the game they came for. This often affects players’ performance and some players have had to pull out of games due to the quarantine conditions they have to observe as they did not feel cool with it. This has been the case with the Ashes.

Australia has had some very strict quarantine measures, which has forced many sporting events to be cancelled. This is why the subject of the Ashes has come under question in recent weeks. English players are generally expected to fly over to Australia with their families, but that is under doubt this year.

But Australia has assured that the Ashes would go on without any hitch, stating that it was left in the hands of England to make it happen. There are also expectations that the quarantine period in Australia could be shortened to seven days, from fourteen days, which would make things easier for the touring party.

Talks are expected to continue on Friday to conclude the discussion
