Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Kyren Wilson progress to semi-finals

Ronnie O’Sullivan and Kyren Wilson have both progressed to the semi-finals of the Welsh Open in Cardiff.

Four-time champion O’Sullivan has been in splendid form in the Welsh Open. The world number 6 took less than an hour to brush off Iran’s Soheil Vahedi 4-0.

He faced a formidable opponent in the last eight, which was Mark Selby, who won China’s Zhao Xintong 4-3.

Ronnie O’Sullivan went on to destroy rival Mark Selby, winning the Welsh Open quarter-final 5-1 in a very convincing display.

The opening frame began as a tight affair that showed signs of an entertaining encounter. It turned out to be a fascinating game for those in attendance in Cardiff. After the opening frame, the game started to swing in the way of Ronnie O’Sullivan, and Selby barely got another chance.

Ronnie O’Sullivan ended up defeating world number 4 with a very high scoreline. Ronnie showed his dominance and superior experience in the game early on. After the first few frames, it already seemed impossible for Mark Selby to win the game.

Neil Robertson, on the other hand, had his incredible run of form e finally come to an end as he was thrashed by a resurgent Kyren Wilson, who reached his second semi-final in a row following an improved showing in the Grand Prix last week.

It was a sad loss for Robertson, who was hoping to reach his fourth final in three weeks after he won the European Masters and World Grand Prix. He also lost to Judd Trump in the final of the German Masters.

In the break of 79, Wilson eased into a 2-0 lead and stated his intention to progress early on.

The 2-0 lead soon became 4-0, and Kyren Wilson took the lead to send Neil Robertson parking.

Robertson will now focus on the imminent Players Championship, which he finished as runner up last year.
