He is suffering; he has the ability to endure pain and take it to the extreme and on top of that he wins – Garbine Muguruza on Rafael Nadal

Garbine Muguruza hailed compatriot Rafael Nadal for his fighting spirit. Nadal is known to never throw the towel and he has savored great success in his glorious career with his never say never attitude. Muguruza, who considers Nadal an idol like many Spanish players, said the Spaniard has the ability to endure pain and take it to the extreme and win matches.

Nadal once again pushed his body to the limit in the quarterfinal clash against Taylor Fritz in the recently concluded Wimbledon 2022. The veteran was struggling with abdominal pain and it looked like he might decide to retire in the second set as he was not on the backfoot.

However, the Spaniard continued playing despite the pain and defeated Fritz in thrilling five-set contest to qualify for the semifinals. But Nadal had to pull out of the tournament after the scans revealed that he has suffered a 7 mm muscle tear in his abdomen.

Garbine Muguruza said while talking to Marca, “It hurts because he was able to understand what he suffers. He is suffering; he has the ability to endure pain and takes it to the extreme and on top of that, he wins.”

Muguruza reckons there is a massive difference between the Big Three and the rest of the players in the Tennis world.

“Among the men, there are three aliens, and the others are very good, but there is a big difference.”

Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic went on to beat Nick Kyrgios in four sets in the Wimbledon final to win his 21st Major title.

On the other hand, Nadal is expected to take three to four weeks to recover from the injury and he should be fit before the US Open.
