After an early exit at the Indian Wells, reigning US Open Champion Emma Raducanu returns to court for the Translyvania Open. It is fascinating how Raduanu has a Major title under her belt but is still searching for her first win on the WTA tour.
However, after the US Open triumph, Raducanu found herself on the news for several reasons. Firstly the hype of her pulling the impossible at the Flushing Meadows. Then secondly the way she parted ways with her former coach Andrew Richardson. It led to a lot of criticism as Raducanu stated that she is looking for someone with more tour experience.
Speaking to the media ahead of her first match at the Transylvania Open, Raducanu opened up on a lot of aspects. She wanted people to be patient with her and give her a bit of time as she is still young and pretty inexperienced.
Despite witnessing a lot of ups and downs in the last month, the youngster feels that she is the same person she was before.
“I don’t think there is any pressure on me,” Raducanu was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. “I feel like everyone should just be a little patient with me. I am going to find my tennis, I just need a little bit of time.”
“I feel like I am the same person. I still go out there, approaching the same as before,” she continued. “I am really enjoying my tennis right now. I feel it will be in a great place.”
The Brtish tennis star of Romanian origin has admitted that she is still learning to live with the ‘Grand Slam winner’ status after her sudden rise in New York. She also adds how the lows in the game have taught her a lot than the highs hence patience is a virtue for the young Brit.
Lastly, she points out how she went from zero to the top and the sudden rise has not given her much time to adjust and adapt to the weight of people’s expectations among all other things that come with a Major title.
The Brit is looking to play a full season on the WTA tour next year. She has shown that she has the potential, she needs more polishing at pulling off wonders more occasionally.
