Brooklyn Nets star Ben Simmons opens up on his love for the game, but does not enjoy the noise that comes with it

Ben SImmons has not found success at Brooklyn Nets which people expected him to be after his successful stint at Philadelphia 76ers. The Australian point guard has suffered from several injuries and mental health issues and that has hindered him from playing at the level that he used to be.

The All Star guard was expected to be a very important piece in this Brooklyn Nets roster with Kevin Durant running the offense and Simmons taking over the defensive lead role. However injuries have kept him on the sidelines even this season.

He recently gave an interview to the New York Post sharing his thoughts on the criticism that he has been getting for his game at Brooklyn Nets. The young guard shared how he loves playing basketball but hates the outside noise that comes with it.

“I love the game. I love the game. Do I like all the bulls–t around it? No,” Simmons said at morning shootaround before the Nets faced the Kings on Tuesday night. “But I love the game and it comes with it.”

“A lot of things come with being in this position. … But it is what it is. I love playing basketball and I love to work. Not every day is going to be perfect. Everyone has down days. But that’s life. Day by day pushing through and getting better,” Simmons highlighted.

Simmons understands that it is going to take time for him to reach the level where he once was. He also shared how people changed during his tough phase and he understood who is with him in this fight and who isnt.

“But at the same time, I know who I’m going to listen to and talk to. And then on top of that, it’s day by day. Everyone’s going to have certain expectations of me. Obviously mine are probably higher than everyone else’s, which they should be. But I know it’s going take time to get back to where I was. And I’m OK with that.”

The All Star guard has been tipped as one of the best young players in the league with his exceptional passing and defensive skills. He just needs to get as much matches as possible to get back in the running.
