Chicago Bulls Lock in Josh Giddey With $100 Million Deal After Historic Season

The Chicago Bulls have secured the future of rising star Josh Giddey, signing the 22-year-old guard to a new four-year contract reportedly worth $100 million, according to ESPN.

While the Bulls did not publicly confirm the financial details, the deal is said to be fully guaranteed, showing the franchise’s confidence in Giddey as a long-term cornerstone.

Giddey, who arrived in Chicago via a high-profile trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder in June 2024, delivered a standout first season with the Bulls. In 70 games, he averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals, setting NBA career-highs in multiple categories.

In doing so, Giddey achieved something only one other player in Bulls history has done: average at least 14 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in a single season. That player? None other than Michael Jordan.

The comparisons don’t end there. Giddey recorded 30 double-doubles last season, the most by a Bulls player since Jordan’s 1988-89 campaign. His seven triple-doubles were second only to Jordan in the franchise’s single-season history.

Known for his court vision and unselfish play, Giddey also expanded his shooting range, making a career-best 105 three-pointers. His efforts helped the Bulls set a new team record with 1,271 made threes in a single season.

Before his NBA journey, Giddey spent a season with Adelaide in Australia’s NBL, showcasing his playmaking talents before being selected sixth overall in the 2021 NBA Draft by the Thunder. He spent three solid seasons in Oklahoma City before being traded to the Bulls in exchange for defensive ace Alex Caruso.

Across his first four NBA seasons, Giddey has compiled averages of 14.1 points, 7.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 0.9 steals across 280 games, which shows his consistency and versatility.

Locking in Giddey is a clear statement of intent from the Bulls’ front office. As the team looks to build a competitive core for the future, Giddey’s all-around game and leadership potential offer Chicago fans plenty of reason for optimism in the seasons ahead.
