Celtic secured a new forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, after the summer transfer window closed last Monday, signing the former Sevilla player as a free agent.
The 28-year-old Nigerian international reunited with manager Brendan Rodgers, whom he worked with at Leicester, and could debut against Kilmarnock this Sunday.
Iheanacho highlighted Rodgers’ exceptional man-management skills as a key factor in his decision to join Celtic.
He stated that Rodgers played a significant role in his career during their time at Leicester, providing opportunities to showcase his talent and contribute to the team’s trophy-winning efforts.
He described Rodgers as an outstanding manager and person with a strong personality, expressing excitement about playing under him again.
Iheanacho emphasized Rodgers’ ability to manage players both on and off the pitch, noting his unique gift for fostering player development and team cohesion.
Celtic supporters are hopeful Iheanacho can recapture the form he displayed under Rodgers at Leicester, where he scored 37 goals in 108 appearances across three full seasons.
His recent performances at Sevilla and on loan at Middlesbrough were lackluster, but fans believe Rodgers’ coaching can unlock his potential once more.
The striker’s versatility and goal-scoring instincts could bolster Celtic’s attack in their pursuit of domestic and European success.
Rodgers, who managed Leicester for three complete seasons, has a proven track record with Iheanacho, and their prior success together fuels optimism in Glasgow.
The Northern Irishman’s ability to nurture talent could be pivotal as Iheanacho aims to revive his career at Celtic.
The club looks forward to seeing the forward integrate into the squad, adapt to the Scottish Premiership’s demands, and contribute to their ambitions in the league and beyond.
