Former NBA player Jay Williams feels Philadelphia Sixers talisman Joel Embiid has matured and learned from his previous mistakes

Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid is already one of the most dominant players in the NBA. Embiid has always been on the news for his performances and some controversies here and there. Embiid has been very egoistic in blaming others and calling people out.

Embiid called out ben Simmons last season for missing an open dunk. He continuously painted Simmons as the villain for the Sixers last season. However, he still is the main act for the Sixers. However former NBA player Jay Williams feels that Embiid will mature now after Ben Simmons and James Harden’s trade.

The Sixers big man has been on a great run this season leading the league in scoring and one of the top runners for MVP. Embiid is putting up stellar numbers 29.6 points, 11.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists this season and will be looking to take the Sixers to greater heights in the current campaign.

The youngster has matured in every sense of his game and has become one of the best players in the NBA currently. Jay Williams feels that having someone experienced like Jams Harden will help Embiid grow even more. During a segment of ‘KJM’, the trio of Max Kellerman, Keyshawn Johnson, and Williams went over Embiid’s recent comments on Simmons. The big man from Philly highlighted how he wanted to keep Simmons at the franchise but things did not work out well for the Sixers as he could do only so much.

Hearing him speak both Max and Keyshawn thought it was bad, but Jay Williams shared a different perspective.

Jay Williams said, “Joel Embiid is all grown up. Like, Joel Embiid, a couple of years ago would have taken that opportunity to take shots or make immature comments about Ben Simmons. But to me, this sounds like a player who is locked in, who is focused. Like yeah, chased after it, I had to let it go. It was never mine to begin with, but I’m focused on what we need to do here. Now we have a chance to win a chip and I think that’s something scary for the rest of the league.”

Jay Williams feels that though Embiid has called out players earlier as well, he has been matured in dealing things with Ben Simmons. Embiid wished Simmons good luck in his journey to Brooklyn. Embiid also shared his standpoint ahead of the trade which was appreciated by Williams. He feels that there is considerable growth in his career.

Embiid’s exceptional performances have led the Sixers to a dominant position in the Eastern Conference. The Sixers are third in the East with a record of 35-23 and with James Harden joining forces the Sixers can become a major contender to bag the NBA Championship this season.
