Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid admits his own performances have not been up to standard in recent games.
Embiid managed just 10 points in the Sixers 113-102 loss to Toronto Raptors this week and has scored just 41 in total in Philly’s last three.
The 24-year-old is the second highest scorer in the NBA this season, behind only Golden State Warriors’ All-Star forward Kevin Durant, but Embiid feels his levels have dropped of late. “I suck.
I wasn’t making anything,” said Embiid as he reflected on his display against Toronto.
“In fact, in the past few games, I’ve been so trash. I have got to figure that part out if I want to help the team win some games.”
The Sixers have genuine aspirations of reaching the NBA Finals this season but have to work out a way to down their main rivals if they are to challenge for a Championship.
Philly have lost to all their main Eastern Conference rivals having been beaten by Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks and Toronto, twice, and their road record of 4-8 will also be a concern for coach Brett Brown.
The Sixers have a chance to bounce back and improve on their away record at Detroit Pistons on Friday night and they can be backed at 1.70 to claim a win.
Philadelphia are 1.80 with a -1.5 handicap, while Detroit are 2.20 to secure a victory.
