Kristaps Porzingis reveals Jaylen Brown is his plane buddy and how the big man is settling in at Boston

Kristaps Porzingis recently revealed that Jaylen Brown is his place buddy and the duo have plenty of conversation while on the road. Porzingis has settled well in the team and a major part of that gets reflected on the court as he shares great chemistry with his fellow teammates.

Porzingis has been a crucial part of the new-look Boston Celtics this season and looks like he has been enjoying his time since joining the franchise.

This revelation from Porzingis comes days after his teammate Jayson Tatum called Al Horford the favourite teammate that he’s ever had and would sit next to him on the plane and engage in a lot of conversations.

Celtics beat writer Souichi Terada revealed Porzingis’ plane story and his friendship with Jaylen Brown. “Kristaps Porzingis says he sits next to Jaylen Brown on the plane, so they talk a lot. Getting a lot of plane content this last week. Jayson Tatum talked about sitting next to Al Horford as plane buddies,” Terada wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The Celtics took a major risk to trade for Porzingis during the offseason. The Washington Wizards were involved in a three-team trade which also included the Memphis Grizzlies. The move saw him head to Boston along with the No. 25 pick, and the 2024 first-round pick (via Warriors). The Grizzlies received Marcus Smart, and the Wizards received the No. 35 pick in the 2024 NBA draft, Tyus Jones, Danilo Gallinari and Mike Muscala.

Since moving to Boston, Porzingis has averaged 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.9 blocks. His presence has been key in their brilliant 12-3 run in the Eastern Conference.

Building chemistry is often difficult for players who move to other teams on deadline day trade. However here Brown has made sure that Porzingis feels at home. It has worked like magic for the big man as his performances have been exceptional for his new team.

As for plane stories, earlier Tatum shared how he enjoys the presence of a veteran player like Horford. He credited the big man for bringing calmness to the dressing room and has helped Tatum understand the game better.

“It’s based off respect, the respect I have for him and likewise. And we just know we need each other. Even when I was 19 and I am now, he still asks me questions, asks me how I’m feeling, how’s my body. That’s who I sit next to on the plane. So Al’s like my favourite teammate I’ve had,” Tatum said regarding his admiration for Horford.

There’s a lot of mutual respect among the Celtic superstars and that looks like the motto for the team. It is working well as they lead the Eastern Conference, having lost only three games and are definitely looking like contenders for this season’s Championship.
