Mike Brown reminisces LeBron James’ early days, speaks about his legacy as he nears legendary scoring record

Ever since he played his first game in the NBA, there has been a lot of pressure around LeBron James. He has been doubted ever since he joined the league and has always had things tough than other youngsters in the NBA.

LeBron James always had to go an extra mile to prove his doubters wrong and he has been doing it for two decades now. Still he has been dominating defenders and leading the points per game for the Los Angeles Lakers this season.

Once he found himself at home in the NBA, he took huge strides in the sport and also had a major hand in making it globally acclaimed. LeBron James over the years has only gotten better and his longevity and durability has made him one of the best players in the modern generation.

LeBron James is nearing history as he is all set to break Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s all-time scoring record in the regular season and that according to many will seal the GOAT debate. However his first coach Mike Brown weighed on several aspects starting from his ability to lead franchises to title to also making the right play with his insane ball knowledge.

“He’s a basketball player that knows how to win championships and lead his team. More importantly, he knows how to make the right play. You can have a lot of disgruntled teammates if you don’t know how, or choose not to make the right play at the right time,” Brown told NBA.com.

Brown shared how LeBron’s smart pass to Damian Jones helped the Cleveland Cavaliers win against the Washington Wizards back in 2006 NBA Playoffs. He shared that these passes of LeBron brought teams together and helped them win games in the playoffs.

“We wouldn’t have advanced against Washington (in the 2006 NBA playoffs) if he didn’t hit Damon Jones for a wide-open jumper in the left corner. Stuff like that not only won us games, it won us a playoff series and brought our team closer together,” Brown reminisced.

LeBron James is only 36 points away from the legendary scoring record and with the Lakers facing the Oklahoma City Thunder on 9th February, the 38-year-old will be hoping to finish it off in this game and also top it off with a win for the Lakers.
