‘Sixth Man of the Year’ Malcolm Brogdon angry with the Boston Celtics team management over including him in trade talks

Boston Celtics guard Malcolm Brogdon is unhappy with the team management ahead of the 2023-24 NBA season. He won the sixth man of the year last season and though he is still on the team right now, there was a chance that the point guard would be on his way out, traded to another team during the offseason.

This summer the Celtics explored trade opportunities as they wanted to upgrade the roster after they lost out in the Eastern Conference finals against the Miami Heat. The Celtics were always interested in acquiring Kristaps Porzingis via an opt-in and trade deal that had Brogdon involved. If the deal had gone through then Brogdon would have been traded away instead of Marcus Smart.

However, NBA journalist Gary Washburn revealed that the idea of trading away Brogdon even after such a great performance last season angered the point guard. He is very unhappy with the Celtics team management for having the idea of trading him away without valuing his efforts last season.

“Malcolm is the one I’m concerned about, too, because we’ve heard nothing,” Washburn said in his latest podcast. “And he’s angry with the team. So, I don’t think communication between the two sides has been fruitful… He was not happy with how the deal went down.”

People relate with Brogdon and his reaction to this situation is totally justified as it must hurt a player to get traded right after he joined the franchise. Also after a stunning season with the Celtics last time out. But that’s how the NBA is and only a few players are untouchables in here and thats how the business side of things work.

Last season, Malcolm Brogdon averaged 14.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists per game for the Boston Celtics. He shot 44.4% from the three-point range last season and if he remains healthy for the entire season, he will have a huge impact on the Celtics.

Furthermore digging has revealed that Brogdon had a severe health issue which stopped the Celtics from doing the trade. Otherwise, he would have been on his way to the Los Angeles Clippers. It will be interesting to see what the future holds for the point guard who can win another sixth man of the year in the upcoming season or may get traded on trade deadline.
