Real Madrid Stages Thrilling Comeback to Beat Real Sociedad 2-1

In a thrilling encounter at the Bernabeu Stadium, Real Madrid showcased their resilience as they came from behind to secure a 2-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday. This victory allowed the hosts to regain their spot at the top of La Liga, maintaining a perfect league run with 15 points from their first five matches.

Real Sociedad made an early statement, taking the lead just five minutes into the game. Former Madrid player Take Kubo orchestrated a brilliant move that found Ander Barrenetxea in the center of the box. Barrenetxea’s initial attempt was brilliantly saved by Madrid’s keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, but he couldn’t deny the rebound, and Real Sociedad went ahead.

The second half witnessed an immediate response from Real Madrid. Federico Valverde struck a fierce shot from the edge of the box in the opening seconds, hitting the left post and finding the net. This marked Valverde’s first goal of the season and leveled the score.

Speaking after the match, Valverde stated, “The best thing we did was try. They had a lot of chances, and the first one they had, they scored. But we always kept trying, and the goal right at the start of the second half helped us to keep pushing… Whatever I can do to contribute, I’m happy.”

The decisive moment came in the 60th minute when Joselu, with a towering header, converted a cross from Fran Garcia on the left. This goal handed Real Madrid the lead, which they managed to maintain for the remainder of the game.

Joselu, reflecting on the comeback, said, “Any team in the league can hurt you. We have to correct things because we conceded a goal very early on. But this is at the Bernabeu (Stadium), and with our fans, we were able to turn it around. The goals that I score and help the team to earn points, that’s what makes me the happiest.”

With this victory, Real Madrid continues their impressive form and heads into the Champions League campaign with confidence. They are set to host Union Berlin on Wednesday before a much-anticipated league derby clash against Atletico Madrid, promising more thrilling football action in the coming weeks.
