Stephen Jackson Floats Spurs Trade for Stephen Curry as Warriors’ Title Hopes Fade

Former NBA champion Stephen Jackson does not believe the Golden State Warriors’ current roster is capable of competing for another championship and has suggested a blockbuster move involving franchise superstar Stephen Curry.

Speaking on a recent episode of the All The Smoke podcast, Jackson was asked whether Golden State could challenge for the title with its existing squad. His response was a firm “nah,” before he proposed the San Antonio Spurs as a potential destination for Curry.

Jackson believes the Warriors could use such a deal to begin planning for the future while receiving enough assets to remain competitive.

“San Antonio for me,” Jackson said on the podcast. “You got De’Aaron Fox, they can package one of those, and I ain’t even talking about Harper, or Castle, they got 2 big draft picks this year, so they did well in the draft. So they got the pieces to move for a Steph with De’Aaron Fox, I think that would be great.”

A move to San Antonio would potentially unite Curry with Victor Wembanyama, creating a combination featuring one of the NBA’s most accomplished perimeter shooters alongside the Spurs’ star big man.

San Antonio also has young players such as Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper, giving the franchise several potential assets should it ever attempt to put together an offer for Curry.

From Golden State’s perspective, Jackson’s proposal would represent a dramatic change in direction. Curry has been the central figure in the Warriors’ success and has won four NBA championships during his career.
