Suns Lose Booker for at Least a Week Amid Injury Concerns

The Phoenix Suns have been dealt another injury setback, with All-Star guard Devin Booker ruled out for at least one week due to a right hip strain.

The team confirmed the news on Saturday, hours before their matchup against the Orlando Magic. Booker sustained the injury during Thursday’s game against the San Antonio Spurs, adding to a growing list of physical concerns for the 29-year-old guard.

Booker has been central to Phoenix’s campaign, averaging 24.7 points, 6.1 assists and 3.9 rebounds across 44 appearances this season. His scoring consistency and playmaking have been key components in the Suns’ unexpected push up the standings.

However, durability has become an issue. Booker only recently returned from a sprained right ankle that sidelined him for seven consecutive games. The latest setback interrupts his rhythm once again at a critical stage of the season.

The Suns also provided an update on recently signed guard Haywood Highsmith, who continues to recover from right knee surgery performed during the offseason. According to the team, Highsmith is making “good progress” and is expected to be re-evaluated in two to three weeks.

Despite the mounting injury concerns, Phoenix have been one of the NBA’s surprise packages this year. Sitting at 32-24, the Suns have remained firmly in the playoff conversation. Yet cracks have begun to show, with the team dropping four of their last five contests.

Booker’s absence will test the Suns’ depth and resilience. As their leading offensive weapon, his ability to create shots and control tempo is difficult to replace. The coming week could prove pivotal in maintaining their position in a tightly contested Western Conference race.

For now, Phoenix must navigate another stretch without their star guard, hoping the setback proves minor and that their early-season momentum can withstand the strain of an increasingly crowded injury report.
