Adesanya speaks on realising how good he is ahead of Imavov fixture

Israel Adesanya is raising his spirits as he prepares to headline UFC Fight Night 250 against Nassourdine Imavov on February 1, 2025, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

This fight marks Adesanya’s first non-title bout in over six years, an important part of the career for the former two-time UFC middleweight champion, who has faced challenges recently, including back-to-back losses to Dricus du Plessis and Sean Strickland.

The Last Stylebender has expressed a sense of calm and confidence heading into this match. In a recent video on his YouTube Video, he stated that he had recently rediscovered how great he was. “I almost forgot how great I was,” said Israel, “but then recently I just realized like, ‘F*ck, I’m good at this sh*t.’ I forget because – reasons, but yeah, it’s good to remind yourself. I keep saying, ‘Ya’ll must have forgot.’ F*ck, I almost forgot.”.

His record stands at an impressive 24 wins and 4 losses, with 16 of those victories coming by knockout.

The upcoming fight is not just another match for Adesanya; it represents an opportunity for redemption by winning his first in three fights. Following his recent defeats, he is eager to demonstrate that he still possesses the skills and determination that made him a champion. “Why am I still fighting? Because I can, and I’m really good at it,” Adesanya declared.

Adesanya’s opponent, Nassourdine Imavov, is no slouch either. The French fighter comes into this bout with momentum, riding a three-fight winning streak. But Adesanya understands that and is not at all moved: “I know he’s dangerous. I know he’s slick. I like his style,” Adesanya said of Imavov. “Not bad footwork. He’s dangerous – very well-rounded. It’s not about him, it’s about me. It’s about improving, just writing this chapter.”

A victory for Adesanya could set the stage for potential rematches against current champions or top contenders in the division, further igniting his quest for a historic third title reign.
