McGregor arrives in Las Vegas ahead of UFC 329

Conor McGregor has arrived in Las Vegas ahead of this weekend’s UFC 329 fixture. His appearance has shut down any uncertainty over his presence as fight week gets underway for Saturday’s main event against Max Holloway.

The former two-division UFC champion checked in at T-Mobile Arena on Tuesday and began his official fight-week commitments before his first UFC appearance in more than five years.

According to reports, McGregor arrived later than initially expected but completed his scheduled activities at the venue, confirming that the fight will happen as scheduled.

Saturday’s fixture is a rematch after their first meeting almost 13 years ago. The pair first met in August 2013, when McGregor earned a unanimous-decision victory.

Their second contest will take place at welterweight and serves as the headline attraction for International Fight Week in Las Vegas.

McGregor’s return has been one of the most discussed stories in mixed martial arts since the bout was announced.

The Irishman has not competed since suffering a broken leg against Dustin Poirier in July 2021, making UFC 329 his first walk to the Octagon in more than half a decade.

Speaking to the press, McGregor noted that he is delaying his retirement because he feels he still has more to do in the sport: “I feel there’s so much left for me to conquer in this game. So much more accolades, more belts, more knockouts, more records, more cash.

“I’m taking everything of what I have built. I can’t wait. I can’t wait. The fight game and the combat sports world is McGregor’s world, and I’m in my prime here now. So, it is on me now to go and show that, and that’s what I will do.”

McGregor’s statement sounds as if this weekend’s fight would not be his last, as he may step back in the octagon sooner for his next bout.

However, with The Notorious, it’s almost impossible to guess when that would be or if it would happen at all.

In the meantime, the focus is on making sure UFC 329 holds as expected, as the result could determine if McGregor comes back for another fight or not.
