Conor McGregor has confirmed that he has two fights remaining on his current UFC contract, with the second scheduled for April 2027.
The former two-division champion revealed the details during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.
McGregor is set to return against Max Holloway at UFC 329 on July 11 in Las Vegas before completing his current deal with another fight in April next year. An opponent for that bout has not yet been announced.
“Right now, I am contracted, and I have both dates,” McGregor said. “I have both dates for my fight. I have July 11. When would you think they would put me back in? April, 2027! It’s almost a year later! That’s ridiculous to me!”
The announcement settles questions about McGregor’s future after his lengthy absence from the sport.
The Irishman has not fought since breaking his leg during his trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021.
His fight against Holloway will be his first appearance inside the octagon in more than four years.
But McGregor does not seem too pleased with the spacing, as he favours a second fight that happens towards the end of the year: “I don’t care who the opponent is. Give it to me at the end of the year. July, end of year. Boom.”
McGregor also revealed that the UFC has not discussed a new contract with him. Even so, he said he wants to remain with the promotion and has no plans to test free agency when his current deal expires.
The 37-year-old added that the biggest moments of his career happened in the UFC and that he would like to spend the remainder of his fighting career with the franchise.
He has his July bout to contend with for now. McGregor will face Holloway in a welterweight contest at T-Mobile Arena, with the former featherweight champion moving up to 170 pounds for the bout.
It will be their first meeting since 2013, when McGregor defeated Holloway by unanimous decision in Boston.
If everything goes according to plan, McGregor is expected to follow that meeting with another fight next April, or likely before then.
