Tyson vs. Mayweather gets date

Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather have locked in plans for an exhibition boxing match. The fight is scheduled to take place on April 25, 2026, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, a nod to the iconic 1974 “Rumble in the Jungle” site in Kinshasa.

The announcement pits together 59-year-old Iron Mike against 48-year-old Pretty Boy in one of the biggest headliner fixtures in recent boxing history.

Tyson enters fresh off his November 2024 unanimous decision loss to Jake Paul at 228 pounds.

Mayweather, still flawless at 50-0 from his professional run, wrapped an August 2024 exhibition against John Gotti III without an official victor, relying on his trademark defense and ring craft.

Rules for this bout stay vague so far, but it will likely feature eight two-minute rounds with larger gloves and no judges, without a formal decision.

Other details waiting to be confirmed include the exact venue for the fight, as well as the weight class. Since it’s an exhibition fight, there is nothing to be put on the line, not even their records.

At age 60, Tyson would be one of the oldest people to step into a ring. But he still moves with impressive speed and looks as menacing as ever.

According to an interview by TMZ, Tyson revealed that it was Mayweather who reached out to him for the fight first.

A fixture between the two is a surreal pairing, and some 20 years ago, it would have been dubbed the fight of the century.

Now, both men are past their prime, and more people would be concerned over Tyson’s ability to see the fight to the end.

Still. promoters will be banking on nostalgia from their near-miss talks a decade ago, as a fight between the two is still something boxing fans from around the world look forward to. Even though it won’t settle the “who’s better between Tyson and Mayweather” question, it would still be worth watching.
