In a recent interview with Inside Fighting, Conor McGregor shared his prediction for the upcoming boxing match between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz, which is scheduled for August 5 at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.
McGregor has fought Diaz twice in the UFC octagon, with Diaz winning the first fight by submission and McGregor taking the rematch by decision. Thus, he has a good understanding of Diaz’s abilities.
According to McGregor, he thinks Diaz has a high chance of winning his professional boxing debut. “I think Nate Diaz slaps the head off of him, and I look forward to seeing it,” McGregor said.
It is interesting to note that McGregor did not provide a detailed explanation for his prediction, leaving many to speculate on his reasoning. However, given that McGregor has shared the ring with Diaz twice, he likely knows what he is talking about.
Paul saw McGregor’s comment and wasted no time responding. He not only predicted a win against Diaz but also proposed a boxing match with McGregor in Dublin. Paul claims he is a better boxer than McGregor and will knock Diaz out.
He also suggested that the match with McGregor could take place on the same night as the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano bout. McGregor has not yet responded to Paul’s offer, but it is clear that Paul is looking to stir up some controversy, and McGregor seems like the perfect match for that.
Paul is coming off of his first loss in his boxing career to Tommy Fury. The bout was highly anticipated and generated a lot of buzz, but ultimately, Fury emerged victorious. Despite the loss, Paul remains a popular figure in the world of combat sports and is known for his brash personality and outspoken nature.
A win over Diaz would further elevate his status and bring him closer to a title fight.
