Tyson vs Mayweather to meet in 2026

Former boxing champions Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are set to face off in an exhibition match scheduled for the spring of 2026.

This matchup, organised by CSI Sports and Fight Sports, marks a rare and unexpected meeting between two of boxing’s most iconic figures, each representing vastly different weight classes and eras in the sport.

59-year-old Tyson is a former undisputed heavyweight champion known for being a heavy hitter, having won 50 of his 59 professional bouts, with 44 by knockout.

Tyson will be approaching 60 at the time of the fight and comes off a recent high-profile exhibition loss to Jake Paul in November 2024, an event which set a streaming record with 65 million viewers on Netflix.

Despite the loss, Tyson remains a compelling figure due to his storied career and the raw power he once commanded in the heavyweight division.

Mayweather, 48, retired undefeated with a 50-0 professional record and captured world titles in five different weight divisions.

Since retiring in 2017 after a notable win against Conor McGregor, Mayweather has stayed active in the exhibition scene, including bouts against Logan Paul and John Gotti III.

This exhibition will be Mayweather’s continuation of maintaining his status as one of boxing’s best tactical fighters.

The match is officially designated as an exhibition, meaning there will be no official winner declared and the bout will not impact either fighter’s professional records. Details such as the exact date, venue, broadcasting partner, and fight rules have yet to be announced.

However, it is expected that the fight will have modified rules given the age difference and physical disparities, similar to Tyson’s last bout, where round lengths and glove sizes were adjusted for safety.

Mayweather is likely to fight near his usual middleweight range, while Tyson will be around his heavyweight weight class.

Tyson expressed amazement at the fight coming together, acknowledging both the unpredictability of modern boxing and concerns about health risks, yet confirming his commitment by revealing he’s started training for the fight.

Mayweather confidently proclaimed that the exhibition will be “monumental and legendary,” aiming to deliver what boxing fans expect from two icons squaring off in the ring.
