AC Milan make inquiries on Iraola

AC Milan have reportedly got in touch with former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola after the Spaniard led the Premier League club to their first European competition.

Iraola secured an Europa League football spot for the Premier League side. Having announced earlier in the season that he would be leaving at the end of the season, he has been on the radar of top clubs looking to begin preparation for next season.

Milan also have former Barcelona manager and legend  Xavi Hernandez as an alternative should Iraola choose not to join Diavolo.

The duo have emerged as Milan’s top choice after Max Allegri was sacked, along with the entire directorial staff.

Milan made it official that they have sacked  Allegri, director Igli Tare, CEO Giorgio Furlani, and chief scout Geoffrey Moncada.

The club, in a brutal statement, said the sacking was based on their ‘unequivocal failure.’

Allegri was sacked as he couldn’t secure Champions League football for the club.

With their last match of the season at home, the Rossoneri needed only a point to be sure of a top-four finish and Champions League qualification going into the final round of the Serie A season, as they had a two-point advantage and a better head-to-head record than Como.

However, they fumbled in a game they went ahead only to lose to a Cagliari side with nothing left to play for.

According to multiple sources, there would be a Monday Night Massacre at Milan, with RedBird patron Gerry Cardinale cleaning house and keeping only special advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

That proved to be the case as the others were all dismissed in a single statement on the club website.

Meanwhile , some Milan fans are also calling for the sack of Ibrahimovic to have a complete revamp.

In their statement, Milan said after the disappointment of last year, the mandate set for the club was to return to the Champions League and to establish a foundation for winning consistently at the top of Serie A.

Noting that Milan were second on the log fr the majority of this season with a credible shot at competing for the Scudetto.

However, the final stretch was completely inconsistent with the performance up to that point, with last night’s disappointing loss in the final game turning the season into an unequivocal failure.

“It is now time for change and a comprehensive reorganization of football operations.

Effective immediately, we are parting ways with CEO Giorgio Furlani, Sporting Director Igli Tare, Head Coach Massimiliano Allegri, and Technical Director Geoffrey Moncada.

We thank each one for their hard work and dedication to AC Milan during their respective tenures.

In his 42 games in charge, Allegri recorded 22 victories, 10 draws, and 10 defeats.

Cardinale and Ibrahimovic will work together to build an entire structure for the club, including a coach, director of sport, and CEO.

It seems they have both begun working immediately with close sources confirming contact with Iraola’s representative.

According to Sky Sports UK, Milan reached out to his representatives, whereas Italian media are more confident that the Bournemouth boss was instead proposed to the Rossoneri by intermediaries.

It was also reported that Iraola was on Napoli’s radar to replace Conte, but Sportitalia dismissed that, saying intermediaries were again shopping his name around in Serie A.
