Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has poured cold water on speculation linking club captain Bruno Fernandes with a summer move to Real Madrid, affirming in no uncertain terms that the Portuguese playmaker is going nowhere.

Pressed further on his confidence, Amorim added with a grin, “He’s not going anywhere because I’ve already told him.” His light-hearted tone, accompanied by a familiar spark in his eyes reflected the strong bond between the two Portuguese compatriots who previously worked together at Sporting Lisbon.

The statement comes on the heels of weekend reports linking the 30-year-old midfielder with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. However, Fernandes, who extended his contract with United until 2027 last August, appears to be central to Amorim’s plans for rebuilding a struggling Red Devils side.

Fernandes has been a standout performer in what has otherwise been a disappointing season for Manchester United. With 16 goals across all competitions, he is the club’s top scorer by a wide margin—no other United player has reached double figures.
