Barcelona line up Carlos Soler as De Jong’s replacement

As Frenkie de Jong moves closer to an exit from Barcelona to Manchester United, the La Liga side has made a move to sign a replacement for the Dutchman.

Valencia midfielder Carlos Soler has been identified by the Camp Nou side as the potential replacement for De Jong. In fact the yeah we left side is ready to pay 20 million Euros for his services.

Reports indicated on Monday that Frenkie de Jong could be moving to Manchester United as the Red Devils submitted a bid that met the asking price of Barcelona for the midfielder.

Frenkie de Jong is one of Manchester United’s targets for the summer transfer business which also includes Christian Eriksen and Ajax forward Antony.

Meanwhile, there are reports that the player is hesitant about leaving Camp Nou.

The Red Devils have also been linked with Lisandro Martinez as they jostle with Arsenal for the player, but it is with Frenkie de Jong that they have made the most progress.

With the deal yet to be confirmed, Barcelona are now shopping for a replacement, with Soler among the list of possible recruitments for the position.

Even before now, Carlos Soler has been on Barcelona’s radar for months now. However, Frenkie de Jong’s other replacement option had been Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva.

Barcelona manager Xavi is said to be interested in bringing in Bernardo Silva as Frenkie De Jong’s replacement if he decides to leave.

Silva has been his favorite option, but Soler may be the easier target. Barcelona is also expecting Franck Kessie to resume once the preseason starts.

Barcelona finished last season in the second position on the La Liga table despite a very tough start to the season that saw them crash out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stages.
