Bayern Munich successfully met their winter transfer window goals by securing the futures of key players.
The club announced contract extensions for Serge Gnabry and Dayot Upamecano, while Sacha Boey departed on loan to Galatasaray.
With the winter window closed, Bayern’s focus shifts to summer targets. A significant decision regarding one forward could necessitate signing a new striker by season’s end.
According to reports, Bayern has opted not to pursue a permanent deal for Nicolas Jackson.
The Senegalese forward, on loan from Chelsea, will return to Stamford Bridge in the summer. His future there is uncertain, especially with Enzo Maresca’s departure and Liam Rosenior taking over as head coach.
Bayern secured Jackson on deadline day for a loan fee of approximately €16.5 million.
The agreement included an obligation to buy for €65 million if Jackson played 45 minutes or more in 40 games across all competitions.
However, this was unlikely due to his late arrival, participation in the AFCON, and competition with Harry Kane for the No. 9 role.
Further reports indicate Bayern has no plans to renegotiate with Chelsea for Jackson. Instead, the club will explore other attacking options in the summer market.
In short cameos at Bayern, Jackson has shown glimpses of his talent. He has scored five goals in 638 minutes of game time for Bayern this season. With consistent game time, he can certainly be a good player for several top clubs in Europe.
Despite this, Jackson remains important for Bayern over the next three months, as the team competes on multiple fronts. Seeking a summer move, the season’s climax could serve as an ideal showcase for his talents.
