Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo shine in Real Madrid’s comfortable win

La Liga club Real Madrid has qualified for the next round of the UEFA Champions League after their fourth consecutive victory in this season’s group stage of the competition, which happened on Wednesday in a home game against Portuguese side Braga.

Real Madrid secured 12 points from four games thanks to their back-to-back victory against the Portuguese side whom they defeated 2-1 in the first leg in Portugal. The Los Blancos have been buckling up their squad for the future with new contract extensions this week.

They went into the game with a motivated spirit and got the result needed, as two of the players who signed their contract extensions this week ran a rampage. Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo played a huge part in the win, while Eduardo Camavinga, another youngster who signed a new contract extension until 2029, played the whole 90 minutes.

The Brazilian duo were involved in two of the three goals scored the night. The visitors should have taken an unlikely lead in the sixth minute when they won a penalty but Spanish forward Alvaro Djaro missed the chance to put them ahead a few minutes later into the first half.

Real Madrid pounced on their visitors as Ferland Mendy’s pass to Rodrygo was crucial as the Brazilian’s pullout was slotted home by Brahim Diaz in the 27th minute.

Two minutes before the hour mark, Real Madrid doubled their advantage as Vinicius Junior’s shot found its way past the Braga goalkeeper. Vinicius then turned provider for Rodrygo, who scored a third three minutes later.

Real Madrid will play Valencia and Cadiz in the La Liga before hosting Napoli on their next UCL matchday.
