Bayern in talks for Joao Palhinha exit as Tottenham remains keen

Bayern Munich have reached an agreement in principle for the sale of Joao Palhinha back to London, with negotiations now underway with English side Tottenham .

The 30-year-old midfielder, who has struggled to secure a regular spot in Vincent Kompany’.s Bayern side, is keen to return to the Premier League following a challenging stint in Germany.

With the availability of Leon Goretzka, Joshua Kimmich and young Paul Wanner has seen the Portuguese further fall down the pecking order at the Allianz Arena.

Three weeks ago, Tottenham’s interest in Palhinha surfaced, and the club has since moved quickly to solidify their pursuit.

The Spurs see the Portuguese star as an ideal fit for Thomas Frank’s tactical setup and are pushing to finalize a deal to bring him to North London. Discussions between Bayern and Tottenham are ongoing, with the deal’s structure still under negotiation.

Currently, a loan move is the primary focus, with Tottenham prepared to cover Palhinha’s full wages. There is also the possibility of including a buy option in the agreement.

The strong relationship between Bayern and Tottenham, built on previous transfers like those of Harry Kane and Mathys Tel, is expected to facilitate smooth negotiations.

Bayern signed Palhinha from Fulham for £47m last summer, but the midfielder has struggled to make an impact, featuring in just 17 Bundesliga matches. His limited game time has fueled his desire to return to London, where he previously impressed with Fulham.

As for Tottenham’s pursuit of Palhinha, their ambition to bolster their midfield with a proven Premier League performer gives them the momentum to push for the transfer

A move could offer Palhinha a fresh start and a chance to rediscover the form that made him a standout at Fulham.

With both clubs motivated to reach an agreement, the coming days will be crucial in determining Palhinha’s next chapter.
