Bayern Munich aimed to bolster their attack this summer by targeting top German talent Florian Wirtz.
The 22-year-old, long linked with a move to Bayern, was a key focus for the Bundesliga champions.
Despite extensive efforts, Wirtz chose a transfer to Liverpool, prompting Bayern to explore other options to strengthen manager Vincent Kompany’s strike force for the upcoming season.
Recent reports indicate that Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade has agreed on personal terms with Bayern.
Max Eberl, Bayern’s sporting director, held productive talks with Woltemade’s representatives last week, and the club’s board has approved the transfer.
The 23-year-old German striker is set to sign a five-year contract once Bayern finalize a transfer fee with VfB Stuttgart. Negotiations with Stuttgart have not yet begun, but with Woltemade competing at the U-21 Euros, Bayern have time to work out a deal.
Securing personal terms with Woltemade was straightforward, but agreeing on a fee with Stuttgart could prove challenging.
With three years remaining on his contract, Stuttgart may demand a significant sum for the promising striker.
Woltemade impressed in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 17 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for Stuttgart.
He has also netted two goals for Germany at the ongoing U-21 Euros, where he is expected to play a pivotal role in the final against England.
Beyond Woltemade, Bayern are also seeking a left winger to further strengthen their attack.
However, their pursuit of top targets has hit obstacles. Bradley Barcola is unlikely to leave Paris Saint-Germain, and Nico Williams reportedly favors a move to Barcelona over Bayern.
The coming weeks will be critical for Bayern, as their performance at the Club World Cup underscored the urgent need for attacking reinforcements. With the transfer window in full swing, Bayern’s ability to secure key signings will shape their competitiveness in the Bundesliga and beyond for the 2025-26 season.
