Bayern Munich close to losing its hegemony

Bayern Munich has been the undisputed king of the Bundesliga, winning it for an astonishing 10 years in a row. This historic run of success has made them one of the most successful clubs in European football history. Their dominance has seen them become an almost unstoppable force, with no team able to break Bayern Munich’s stronghold on the league title.

The Bavarian giants have enjoyed consistent success over the last decade, but this year the departure of Robert Lewandowski and the losses of Mane and Neuer are weighing heavily on the club. This is added to the excellent seasons that Borussia Dortmund and Union Berlin are having.

The race for the title in Germany is closer than ever; there is only a difference of one point between the first (Bayern) and second place (Union Berlin), and only three points separate Dortmund from the top of the table.

Union Berlin is the biggest threat to Bayern’s hegemony, as the team has gone on an eight-game winning streak and is becoming an overwhelming force in the Bundesliga, which surprises many since it was only a fourth-division team in 2006, and it was in 2019 that he achieved his promotion to the highest category. The team has managed to make their stadium a true fortress, they don’t lose at home, and throughout the season, they have won every time they score first.

Sheraldo Becker is the one who leads the Union; the striker is having the best season of his career with seven goals and four assists. However, the Union says that their goal is not to win the league and that the plan for the season was to maintain the category; the fans and the players themselves dream of breaking Bayern’s reign.
