Bayern Munich Open Contract Talks With Harry Kane as Future Plans Take Shape

Bayern Munich have confirmed they are in discussions with striker Harry Kane over a possible contract extension, signalling the club’s desire to secure the long-term future of one of Europe’s most prolific forwards.

Sporting director Max Eberl revealed the talks during a Bundesliga event in Frankfurt, acknowledging that while no final decision has been made, communication between the club and player is ongoing.

“We’re talking to Harry, we’re talking,” Eberl said. “Everyone knows at some point a decision has to be made.”

Kane, 32, joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2023 on a four-year contract in a deal worth an initial 100 million euros (£86.4m). Since arriving in Munich, the England captain has enjoyed a remarkable spell, scoring 119 goals and providing 30 assists in 126 appearances across all competitions.

His impact was central to Bayern’s success in the 2024-25 season, when the club reclaimed the Bundesliga title. The triumph marked the first major trophy of Kane’s senior career, a milestone that followed years of individual accolades without team silverware.

Earlier this season, Kane hinted that his future could remain in Germany, saying in October that he “could definitely” see himself staying at Bayern and that his desire to return to the Premier League had “gone down a little bit.” Those comments now appear increasingly relevant as formal discussions take place.

On the pitch, Kane continues to deliver at an elite level under head coach Vincent Kompany. He has scored 34 goals in 30 matches this season, including 21 in just 19 Bundesliga games. That form has put him in contention to challenge the long-standing league record of 41 goals in a single campaign, set by former Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski.

Kane has also played a key role in Bayern’s European campaign, helping the club climb to second place in the Champions League group phase table with one match still to play.

Bayern chief executive Jan-Christian Dreesen struck a calm and confident tone regarding negotiations, stressing that the club is under no immediate pressure.

“Harry has great confidence in us and he feels comfortable in Munich,” Dreesen said. “He and his family are settled in. Therefore we’ve got absolutely no reason to rush.”

With Kane settled, scoring freely, and Bayern eager to maintain stability, the coming months could prove decisive in shaping the club’s attacking future.
