Reports have confirmed that German Champions Bayern Munich has signed Real Madrid right-back Alvaro Odriozola on loan till the remainder of the season.
Both clubs agreed to the deal on Wednesday, and the Spanish International will come in to bolster the Bavarian defense department, which has been short on personnel with center backs Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez out with Knee injuries.
Club chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealed that the board decides to honor and comply with the request of the Head Coach Hansi Flick to strengthen the defense, which has led to the arrival of Odriozola [Alvaro].
He said, “we are excited about Odriozola signing and would like to extend our appreciation and hands of friendship to Real Madrid for their cooperation when discussing the deal.”
Bayern Sporting Director Hasan Salihamidzic also added and said, ” Signing Odriozola has shown how convinced we are with him. He is gifted with great qualities and has the potential to help the club. I’m glad we’ve had a full back like him”.
Odriozola joined Real Madrid from his home town and boyhood club Real Sociedad. He was a regular starter under Julen Lopeteugi before the then Real Madrid manager was sacked after a poor run of games.
With the second stint arrival of current Real’s manager Zinedine Zidane, Odriozola has found opportunities in the first team hard to come by as the manager has entrusted the right-back position duties to Odriozola’s fellow countryman Dani Carvajal.
The 24-year old Spaniard is expected to link up with his teammates today [Thursday] so that he could immediately slot in at the right-back position.
