Bayern Munich chiefs have been impressed by Vincent Kompany’s impact in his first season at the club.
The Belgian coach successfully guided Die Roten to another Bundesliga title, though they suffered a painful Champions League semi-final exit.
Bayern still have an opportunity to complete a domestic double by winning the DFB Pokal later this month.
Kompany, who arrived from Burnley in 2024, has already received an improved contract as recognition for his solid work.
However, club officials believe he requires stronger support in the transfer market to sustain domestic dominance and mount a serious challenge for the Champions League trophy at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern are prioritising attacking reinforcements this summer. They will not exercise their option to sign Nicolas Jackson permanently and are seeking greater depth on the left flank.
A versatile forward capable of playing across the front line is considered an ideal profile.
Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon has been strongly linked with a move, but the high fee demanded by the Premier League side has prompted Bayern to explore alternative targets.
Reports recently highlighted concrete interest in Atalanta’s Charles De Ketelaere.
The 25-year-old Belgian international has reportedly given the green light to a potential switch to Munich, although no formal talks have taken place between the clubs so far.
Inside sources, however, suggest Bayern are not actively planning a move for De Ketelaere at present, with the player possibly ranking slightly lower on their list of summer targets.
De Ketelaere offers significant tactical flexibility, able to operate in multiple attacking positions.
While his goal output has been modest with five Serie A strikes, he has shone as a creator, registering five assists and generating a team-high 59 chances.
With his best years still ahead and a contract running until 2028, he could represent good value for Bayern – provided Atalanta do not demand an excessive transfer fee.
