Ratcliffe berates overpaid United star

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has stated that some of the team’s players are “not good enough” and “overpaid.” Ratcliffe, who acquired a 28.94% stake in the club last year, made the comments in an interview where he specifically mentioned midfielder Casemiro, striker Rasmus Hojlund, goalkeeper Andre Onana, and wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho as players the new regime had “inherited.”

Ratcliffe’s comments come as the team struggles in the Premier League, currently sitting in 14th place. Despite this, Ratcliffe remains optimistic about the team’s future, stating that he believes they can win the Premier League by 2028. He also expressed his support for head coach Ruben Amorim, saying that he will be at the club for “a long time.”

Ratcliffe also addressed the club’s financial difficulties, revealing that Manchester United would have run out of cash by the end of the year without the changes he has implemented. He stated that the club had been spending more than it earned for seven seasons and that drastic measures were needed to get the club back on a stable financial footing.

The co-owner also faced criticism for his comments on the women’s team, which he described as “girls” and “an opportunity” in an interview with the United We Stand fanzine last year. Ratcliffe defended his comments, saying that they were “unfair” and that the women’s team is “every bit as important as the men’s team.”

Ratcliffe also announced plans for a new stadium, which he hopes will become “the most iconic football stadium in the world.” He stated that the club is preparing to announce plans for the stadium, which will be part of a wider regeneration scheme.

Despite the challenges facing the club, Ratcliffe remains committed to restoring Manchester United to its former glory. He stated that he is willing to make unpopular decisions to achieve this goal and that he believes the club will be in a very different place in three years’ time.
