Bayern Munich have developed an impressive pipeline of goalkeepers over the last few seasons.
Alexander Nubel stood out during his loan spell at Monaco. He was expected to leave Munich in 2023, but Bayern decided to loan him out to VfB Stuttgart.
Now, Nubel has been putting in fine performances at Stuttgart, which led to him penning a new deal at the club in April before returning to Stuttgart for another loan spell.
Meanwhile, Bayern also signed a talented young goalkeeper, Daniel Peretz, from Maccabi Tel Aviv to replace Yann Sommer in 2023.
The Israeli goalkeeper joined as the third-choice shot-stopper behind Manuel Neuer and Sven Ulreich.
Bayern rate Peretz highly even though he didn’t get enough opportunities to impress during the last 18 months.
The 23-year-old goalkeeper was in fine form during Israel’s 1-0 win against Belgium on Monday.
According to reports in Germany, Bayern are satisfied with the development of Peretz. The Bavarian club wants to keep him until the end of the season, so a loan move in January is ruled out.
The Bavarian club want Peretz to get consistent game time next season, which makes a loan move away from Munich a distinct possibility in the summer.
Bayern would ideally like Peretz to stay in the Bundesliga and get used to the league. However, the 23-year-old goalkeeper will not be short of options when the transfer window opens at the end of the season.
Belgian League side Anderlecht were very keen on signing Peretz in the summer, but a move didn’t materialize.
Vincent Kompany and Bayern eventually decided to keep Peretz in the first team for the new season.
Bayern have got things right more often than not when it comes to choosing loan destinations for senior players over the last three seasons.
They need a top-level club that will guarantee Peretz game time every weekend. For now, the 23-year-old shot-stopper will look to make the most out of training experience with Neuer and Ulriech.
Bayern will certainly have Peretz as part of their long-term contingency in the goalkeeping department.
The Bavarian club will make a decision on Neuer’s future in the second half of the season. Nubel is the favorite to succeed Neuer at Bayern, but Peretz can compete for the number one spot in the future if he enjoys a productive loan spell next season.
