Bellingham out for one month after hamstring injury

Jude Bellingham is expected to spend around a month on the sidelines after suffering a hamstring injury during Real Madrid’s La Liga clash with Rayo Vallecano.

The England international was forced off just minutes into the match at the Santiago Bernabéu, leaving the pitch in visible distress and sparking immediate concern among fans and staff.

Bellingham pulled up while chasing a ball down the left flank and quickly signalled that he could not continue.

Medical staff were called on almost immediately, and interim head coach Álvaro Arbeloa was forced into an early tactical reshuffle as the midfielder was replaced before the game had settled.

Real Madrid later confirmed the diagnosis in an official statement, revealing that Bellingham had sustained a semitendinosus muscle injury in his left leg.

The club stopped short of providing a definitive return date, stating only that his recovery will be closely monitored by the medical team. Reports in Spain suggest, however, that the injury is not severe.

Bellingham is likely to be out for approximately four weeks, with an estimated recovery window ranging from three-and-a-half to five weeks.

The publication added that the quick diagnosis was possible due to minimal swelling and the player’s strong fitness record since returning from shoulder surgery last summer.

The setback means Bellingham is set to miss a run of crucial fixtures in both domestic and European competition.

He is expected to sit out upcoming La Liga matches against Valencia, Real Sociedad, Osasuna, Getafe, Celta Vigo, and Elche, while also missing Real Madrid’s two-legged Champions League knockout play-off against Benfica. A potential return in time for the March derby against Atlético Madrid remains uncertain.

Despite the blow, Arbeloa played down concerns over squad depth, insisting there were no warning signs before the injury occurred.

While Bellingham’s absence is a significant loss for Madrid’s title push, the club remains confident he will return in time to contribute later in the season and keep himself in contention for England selection ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
