Bologna add to Napoli’s Misery at the Dall’Ara

Bologna on Sunday handed Scudetto holders Napoli another defeat, extending their winless streak with a surprise 2-0 win.

After a disastrous outing against PSV in the UEFA Champions League, the Partenopei came into he tie off the back-to-back goalless draws against Como and Eintracht Frankfurt.

The hosts suffered another injury blow when Lukasz Skorupski sustained an injury while taking a goal kick early in the game, prompting 17-year-old Massimo Pessina to be handed his Serie A debut as Ravaglia is also injured.

The leaders had an early chance through Rasmus Hojlund, whose solo strike deflected over, while Jhon Lucumi nodded narrowly wide from a promising position on a corner.

Bologna called Vanja Milinkovic-Savic into action with his first real save on 32 minutes when he got down to palm the Jonathan Rowe long-range snapshot round the base of the upright.

Thijs Dallinga also missed another great opportunity as he turned a free header wide of the near post.

Bologna suffered a further injury blow as Jonathan Rowe also picked up an injury that forced him off at half-time.

The host eventually broke the deadlock as substitute Nicolò Cambiaghi got down the left and pulled back from the by-line for Dallinga, who was in front of Amir Rrahmani to flick in at the near post from six yards.

The goal grew their confidence as Orsolini tested Milinkovic-Savic at the near post with an audacious volley, with Hojlund taking a major risk for a reaction foul on Lewis Ferguson.

Bologna eventually made it two as Emil Holm released a cross from the right after a free kick and found Lucumi for the header from six yards.

Substitute Noa Lang saw his pull-back from the by-line deflected onto the base of the upright, while David Neres made a decisive defensive block to prevent Juan Miranda tapping in the Federico Bernardeschi assist at the far post.
