Bournemouth welcome struggling Luton Town to Vitality Stadium

Wednesday’s rescheduled Premier League clash between Bournemouth and Luton Town will see the Hatters hope to cap vital points that will be key to their survival in their relegation battle when they travel to the Vitality Stadium.

Luton Town have been the most impressive of the three promoted club sides, but even at that, they still sit precariously at the base of the table with Burnley and Sheffield United.

The game is a rescheduled fixture from when Luton Town skipper Tom Lockyer, 29, collapsed on the pitch when the clubs met on 16 December. Meanwhile, it is the second game against a bottom-three side in the league after the weekend’s 2-2 draw with Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Cherries found themselves 2-0 down with 25 minutes remaining in the game; Andoni Iraola’s side ended up being a point well-earned. Bournemouth themselves have found themselves in 13th position, but they would be relaxed by their position.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola confirmed the availability of striker Dominic Solanke on Tuesday.

“He’s feeling better after the other day; he finished the game [against Sheffield United] quite well. He played well even though he missed a penalty and could have scored a disallowed goal. He had better sensations than he had in the previous weeks, and I hope he can go upwards from here.” Iraola said.

Furthermore, Luton Town Skipper Tom Lockyer will be on the ground at the Vitality Stadium to show appreciation to the doctors and medical staff who attended to him. The 26-year-old had said that he was practically dead for over 40 seconds when that incident happened in December.

While Sheffield United and Burnley are in 20th and 19th position with 14 points from 28 games this season, Luton Town is in 18th with 21 points, which is 3 points from safety, whereas Nottingham Forest is in 17th position with 24 points.
