Celtic emerge victorious in derby clash agaaints Rangers at home to claim a 2 – 0 Win

Celtic concede Rangers to a 2-0 defeat at Ibrox. The much-awaited first season’s Old Farm derby started Glamorously with both sides going for it and creating chances.

However, in the build-up to this match, bookmakers, pundits, and fans had made Steven Gerrard’s side the favorites. Before this match, Celtic has lost their past two derbies at Ibrox.

The game started slowly, but as time goes on, Celtic took the bull by the horns and started blazing all guns. Goals from Odsonne Edouard in the 32nd minute and Jonny Hayes in the 93rd minute gave Celtic four wins from four matches this season.

Lennon said after the match that “Everybody was writing us off, the experts, if you believed all the hype, we shouldn’t have turned up today. We’ve kept our counsel, we’ve stayed calm, and we’ve put in a brilliant performance

Goldson was guilty of a woeful pass forward, allowing possession to Michael Johnston, who still had a lot to do, driving towards the Rangers penalty area before slipping the ball to the Frenchman. He showed a lot of composure and character to slide the ball under the onrushing Rangers goalkeeper and sent the fans into wild Jubilation. The goal was the game’s first ever attempt on target. However, it took Rangers close to an hour to stage a significant response as half-time substitute Sheyi Ojo forced Fraser Forster into a smart save.

Steven Gerard then brought on Alfredo Morelos and Jones in an effort to salvage a single point, but it was Allan McGregor in the home goal who had to look lively to keep close-range efforts from Hatem Elhamed, and Christopher Jullien out with his feet with a double save.

Jones’ late red card compounded Rangers’ misery for bringing down debutant Bauer – a reckless, ill-disciplined act from the winger. Celtic, though, showed their resilience to make it nine wins in a row, comfortably seeing off their closest rivals.
