Celtic keen to reunite with former skipper who left club for Arsenal

The latest reports emanating from Scotland reveal that Celtic is already working on securing Kieran Tierney to a pre-contract agreement.

The process is not a straightforward one, as the Hoops will have to find a way to strike a deal with the Arsenal left-back with regard to wages and ward off rival interest.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers is eager to bolster his squad ahead of next season to make them capable of competing on all fronts.

One of the agendas for the club comes in the form of signing Kieran Tierney, as Celtic are indeed interested in bringing the left-back to the club.

Tierney is set to leave Arsenal at the end of the season when his contract expires, as the Gunners passed up the chance to trigger an extension in his existing deal.

The Scottish international, a £25 million signing from Celtic, will be a free agent in six months, and the Hoops are already seen as favorites to land him.

Tierney is keen on reuniting with Rodgers and restarting his career back at Celtic Park, where he enjoyed a trophy laden period before his move to Arsenal.

With a pre-contract agreement plans already in progress, the Scottish left-back will be eager and hope Celtic will be swift in their operation to avoid complications.

The Gunners are well stacked and spoilt for options  at the Left back role especially with the emergence of Myles Lewis-Skelly this season as well as summer signing Riccardo Calafiori.

They also have Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu in their ranks, meaning the £25 million man won’t be missed from a sporting side.

Bringing back a player they let go many years ago will be seen as a positive sign for Celtic’s transfer policy, as Tierney packs the necessary experience needed by Rodgers in his side.

The Hoops will have to overcome a few obstacles before finding an agreement, with wages and rival interest considered key elements in any deal for the Arsenal wide player.

The idea here is to find a pre-contract agreement as soon as possible to avoid any complications later on, as Celtic will want things sorted out next month rather than wait until the summer. Tierney, for his part, is showing positive signs about returning to his old club, which will help the Hoops in their quest.
