All efforts made by the club to sign the forward on deadline probed abortively, but the reports have it that Celtic might renew their interest in the player at the end of the season. The 24-year old might be allowed to leave the Championship side after ten starting appearances so far this season.
Cardiff paid £11m pounds to bring him down from Premier League side Norwich City. However, his performances couldn’t save his club from being relegated from the EPL last season.
Murphy kicked off his career at Norwich, together with his twin brother Jacob Murphy who plays his trade at Sheffield Wednesday.
Murphy then went on to make 100 appearances for Norwich scoring 18 goals in all competitions with loan spells at MK Dons and Wigan Athletic.
Cardiff paid a substantial amount to secure his services, but he hasn’t been able to replicate his performances. However, a move to Celtic could be on the cards as this will help him get his career back on track.
Celtic are currently seven points clear of rivals- Rangers on top of the SPFL table as they are in course to secure another title.
Josh Murphy will offer the Hoops options and depth in the full positions in the coming campaign to help Celtic maintain their dominance in Scotland. However, the authorities at Park Head may have to part with a substantial amount to convince Cardiff to do business, as they will be looking to recoup part of the amount they spent on him.
