Celtic stumble to a draw at Livingston

Glasgow Celtic’s winning streak in the Scottish Premiership came to an abrupt end at Livingston, with the home side holding a lead until the final minutes and the visitors securing a point only in the added time. Celtic had a tough time already in the Europa League fixture against FC Copenhagen, losing 1-3 at home and they barely escaped with a late winner in Scottish Cup against St. Johnstone. Livingston has been a thorn on the top club’s side, having now stolen a point from both Rangers and Celtic. Celtic is still holding on to their 13-point lead on top of the Scottish Premiership after Rangers falling to Hamilton on Wednesday round.

Livingston took an active approach to the game and took Celtic by surprise with their relentless pressure and offensive demeanor. The first half was more even than usual, although Celtic started the scoring on the 16th minute. Callum McGregor stole the ball from a missed clearance by Livingston defense and scorched the ball past Robby McCrorie from just outside the area. The home side pulled even only eight minutes later, after a fumble by Celtic goalkeeper Fraser Forster, who dropped the ball straight at the feet of Jon Guthrie, who then had an easy job to slot the ball into the netting. Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard rattled the inside of the post still in the first half, but no more goals were scored.

The home team started the second half with a blast. Barely a minute had passed and Fraser Forster had to collect the ball from his net. Lyndon Dykes beat his man to surge inside the box and delivered a perfect pass to Scott Robinson, who blasted the ball in the empty net on 46th minute. The visitors had to chase the lead for almost the whole second half and they came close, with a couple of claims of penalties included. The home team’s defense played their socks off in preventing the goal scoring chances, but had to surrender on the first minute of added time. Odsonne Edouard skipped past his marker and delivered the ball at the goal front, where Tom Rogic got an attempt. The ball bounced in from an unlucky Livingston defender to make the final score 2-2.

Celtic will play their 30th Scottish Premiership game of the season on 7th of March hosting St. Mirren at Celtic Park. Don’t miss out on Dafabet’s Celtic FC Prediction Challenge in order to win weekly free bets!
