Celtic winger James Forrest has been pressured to improve his performances in games after his poor display against Rangers else he risked being dropped.
Before this season, Forrest was outstanding as Celtic completed a third straight domestic treble last season, winning multiple players of the year awards as a result of his terrific performances.
Many supporters have expressed their feelings towards the 20-year old winger this season who has found the net not less than 14 times in his 35 appearances.
He was singled out for criticism by many supporters after the club’s 2-1 loss to rivals Rangers last month after his poor display before being replaced by Oliver Ntcham midway through the second half.
Coming so hard on the winger might have been too harsh judging his brilliant performances in the previous months. His goals in the Europa League against Cluj, AIK, and Lazio, and the ten consecutive trophies are still a determinant that shows he is just experiencing a dip in form. However, the fans expect more, and he has to prove to them that he is the same player he was last season.
James Forrest remains the longest-serving player after skipper Scott Brown. And he has to work hard to make sure he doesn’t lose the backing of the fans.
Pundits have, however, advised him [Forrest] to improve his game less; he risked being dropped. When quizzed about his drop in performance during their training camp in Dubai, the winger revealed that “At Celtic, as a forward player, you are judged on every game by your performance, when you have a good match, you shouldn’t allow it go to your head. I am trying to improve each game and get to my best.
Celtic lead Rangers by two points in the SPFL with their rivals having a game in hand to play, But Forrest remains optimistic about their chances of retaining the league despite their loss to Rangers.
