Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants Romelu Lukaku to take inspiration from Timo Werner as they progress to the FA Cup finals

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants Romelu Lukaku to take a leaf out of Timo Werner’s book to make a comeback for the Blues. The Belgian international has been very inconsistent for Chelsea since joining the club from Inter Milan this summer. Therefore Tuchel has some advice for the Belgian forward.

Romelu Lukaku made a comeback to the Stamford Bridge earlier this year when he joined the club from Inter Milan for club record £97.5 million deal. Lukaku was on sensational form as he guided Inter Milan road to lifting the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season. But after joining the Blues he has scored 12 goals in 27 matches this season and has had far less impact for the Blues.

German striker Timo Werner also went through a rough patch when he joined Chelsea. But the former RB Leipzig man turned things around with his recent performances. Werner has started in the last five of the seven games and has scored three goals.

Tuchel recently shared how Lukaku can take inspiration from Werner as he wants the Belgian to fight for a place in the starting eleven. Tuchel told talkSPORT, “What Timo has done is exactly what [Lukaku] needs to do. Wait, be patient, work hard and put the team first, be ready to help the team, because as a striker you can help within seconds.”

Tuchel shared how Werner has put in a lot of effort and has made it hard for him to leave out from the starting eleven. He is happy that how Werner finally realised his potential, something for which he was always known back in the Bundesliga.

“Now [Werner] has made it difficult to leave him out. I’m impressed, he was very, very good in the last two games. These were two games when he was much better than in any other game and he showed what he is capable of. Everybody thinks we as managers do the line-up, and of course, we do,” Tuchel added.

Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea reached the finals of the FA Cup after winning the semifinals 2-0 against Cyrstal Palace. This will be the German tactician’s sixth final in just 15 months at the Bridge. Ruben Loftus Cheek and Mason Mount scored a goal each to help the Blues win and progress through to the FA Cup finals to play against Liverpool.
