Erling Haaland Urges Manchester City Unity After Club Found Guilty of Financial Rule Breaches

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has called on his teammates, supporters and everyone associated with the club to remain united after an independent commission found the Premier League giant guilty of breaching financial regulations.

The verdict has raised serious concerns over City’s future, with the club potentially facing major punishments, including expulsion from the Premier League. However, the Manchester-based side has challenged the findings by lodging an appeal.

The independent commission concluded that Manchester City had arranged “sham” contracts with several commercial partners to inflate its revenues artificially and reduce costs. The alleged financial irregularities covered nine seasons between 2009 and 2018.

Amid growing uncertainty surrounding the club, Haaland has urged everyone to maintain a positive attitude and continue supporting one another.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports published on Thursday, the Norwegian international stressed the importance of togetherness during a difficult period.

“We have to stick together, and we have to spread the love to each other. So yeah, stick together, enjoy the ride and smile,” Haaland said.

His comments come ahead of Manchester City’s highly anticipated Premier League encounter against Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The fixture will be City’s first match since the commission delivered its verdict, adding further attention to an already important clash between the two clubs.

With a hostile reception expected at Anfield, Haaland believes maintaining unity and focusing on football will be crucial for the team.

“We have to stick together, we have to stay with each other and we have to stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we have always have to have a smile. So we have to stay positive, look ahead and try to win football games and then try to enjoy the situation and the game,” he said.

The striker’s message reflects his determination to keep the squad focused on its performances despite the uncertainty surrounding possible disciplinary action.

While the financial verdict has created fresh challenges for Manchester City, the club’s appeal means the dispute over the commission’s findings is not yet concluded.

For now, Haaland wants the players to concentrate on winning matches rather than allowing off-field developments to affect their performances.

Sunday’s trip to Liverpool will therefore provide an immediate test of Manchester City’s ability to remain focused under pressure.

As the club awaits the outcome of its appeal, Haaland’s message remains clear: stay united, remain positive and keep fighting for results on the pitch.
